Our Roots
Maca Magic® Juice was founded by John Smith, a health enthusiast with a passion for superfoods. John first discovered maca in 2008 when struggling with fatigue, mood issues, and declining health. We source all our maca from trusted family farms in the most renowned maca-growing region of Peru, the Junin plateau in the central highlands. Our farm partners are dedicated to passing down the indigenous wisdom of maca through generations while using responsible practices that protect the land for the future.
We work closely with our farmers to ensure the quality of maca meets our high standards from seed to shelf. We provide resources to help maximize soil health, plant vitality, and cultivation techniques. Our farmers also hand-select only the best maca roots for us and minimize processing to preserve freshness. This collaborative process allows us to offer the finest Peruvian maca available.
Our Processing
To retain the optimal potency and active compounds in our maca, we use special processing systems designed to mimic ancestral practices. The fresh maca roots are carefully cleaned, sorted, and sliced into smaller pieces, then dehydrated at low temperatures below 118F.
This slow dehydration can take days but effectively preserves key nutrients like glucosinolates and anthocyanins. We never use harsh chemical solvents to extract maca. Our liquified extracts are made using only pure, filtered water and/or vegetable glycerin.
For our powdered maca, the roots are milled into a fine texture. We maintain a cool temperature during milling to protect nutrients.
